             One-Act Play Writing Competition 2007/8

      Rules

1.   Entry is open to anyone resident or regularly working or studying

    within 40 miles of Rotherham Town Centre

 

2.  An entry will consist of a one-act play, written by the entrant, with a  

     running time of between 25 and 40 minutes.

 

3.  The entries must the entrant’s own unaided work and not previously         

     published or performed, or currently entered into another competition.

 

4.  The entries must reach the competition administrator no later than  

       March 31st 2008   

      Late entries will not be accepted.  Ensure that your entry bears

      sufficient postage. Failure to do so will prejudice your script.

 

5.  Entries must be accompanied by the appropriate entry fee:

    £5.00 per script.  Make cheques payable to Rotherham Arts

 

6. Entrants must adopt a nom de plume which must appear at the top of     

   every page of the script. Any other name, or identification on the  script

    will invoke disqualification.

 

7. Entries should be accompanied either by an entry form (photocopies  

   acceptable) or a cover sheet containing your name, non-de-plume,

    contact details, and entry title(s).

 

8. Entries should be typed in a plain font, double-spaced, on one side of

   white A4 paper. Number the pages and include the title at the head of

    each page.

   Entries cannot be returned so don’t send your only copy.

 

9. The  judge’s decision is final and not subject to correspondence.

 

10. Three Prizes:

1st: £125.00

Two runners-up: £75.00

    No entrant can win more than one prize.

11. Rotherham Arts reserves the right not to award any prize if, in the

      judge’s opinion, insufficient entries reach a suitable standard.

12.  Prizes will be presented at a public performance or reading of the

      winning scripts subject to rule 11.
